Lleyn Sheep

We currently keep a flock of around 70 pedigree Lleyn breeding ewes. The Lleyn is a breed of sheep from the Lleyn peninsula in North Wales. It was a nineteenth century cross from the indigenous welsh ewe and the Irish Roscommon ewe.

The Lleyn is a milky ewe with a propensity to produce twins and feed them on limited nutrition. She is hardy and docile.

These beautiful white sheep fit well into our pastoral system as they require little additional feeding to produce a crop of twins which finish slowly off our unfertilised pastures, without the need for much chemical intervention.
